3/ Our main finding vary across policy contexts. In our Danish case, the preference is strongest in the context of specialized social policy, followed by employment policy. With business subsidy policy, attitudes are more neutral. We argue this is driven by differences in target group deservingness.

2/ Using a pre-registered survey experiment, we find that citizens generally prefer removing ADRs to reduce compliance burdens, even if it might weaken program integrity. This preference is affected by individual characteristics like political ideology and personal experience with the policy area.
