Adapting Ned Blackhawk's National Book Award winner for young readers has been both an honor and a pleasure. I learned a lot while writing the adaptation, and I am looking forward to sharing this book with the world in Fall 2026.

I watched this last night. It's an okay time-passer, and it's fun to see Peter Stormare in a Bluto beard gnawing on scenery, but it's pretty generic hot-young-people-trapped-in-hell stuff. Play-throughs of the game were much more compelling to watch.

Just remembering how much I like this Ken Watanabe moment from the 2014 film Godzilla for no particular reason today.

Here's the Speckled Menace, aka the Grumblecub. I haven't posted this pic before. I've got better "portrait" ones, but this shows her rosettes pretty well (and also her silly pineapple harness). Her glitter shows up better in the right light. She's exploring the wooded area behind our house.

I've seen puffins IRL, but never like this. Only in pix.

Here's my most recent book: Super Navigators: How Animals Find Their Way, which I adapted for kids from a terrific book by David Barrie. Illustrator Qu Lan and Tra Publishing did an amazing job. It was an honor and a pleasure to be part of it.

I'm excited and honored to be creating the young readers' version of this award-winning, bestselling, profoundly important history by Ned Blackhawk. The adaptation will be published by @sevenstories.bsky.social.

H/t to @sophiecarr.bsky.social for turning me on to the Your Name in Landsat site, and thanks, NASA, for the photos and the tool. I got an Argentina, an Iceland (yay!), an Antarctica (double yay!), and an Azerbaijan. Pretty cool.

Love space? I do. That's why I'm extra-thrilled to say that I'll be adapting The Six, Loren Grush's terrific new book about the first US women astronauts, into a middle-grade version to be published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers.

Nice! I've been lucky enough to have two cats in a row who took to harness and leash with no fuss for walks around our wooded lot. So great to give them exercise and stimulation while protecting birds-- and cats. (We have had coyotes drinking from orr birdbaths.)
