Chicago does have a great spot downtown that is more family friendly in Lakeshore East. Probably 6 or 7 huge apt buildings all surrounding a park. Tucked between the river and Millennium Park. In the mornings, I see families walking their kids to school. Quiet, safe, green space matters.
