I like writing, fishing, cooking, and baseball. Creator/host of the Chapel Probation podcast. Author of Asian American Apostate: Losing Religion and Finding Myself at an Evangelical University.
Bonus episode. Priska and Scott talk about the news of the day. Scott remembers growing up in Dobson's neighborhood. Things were not ok in the 70's.

A little break this week, so I can explain why I'll never ever be a Christian again. Won't go to a progressive church. It's just not for me. Never was. Like country music #chapelprobation

So many emotions. We fully support the protests to get ICE out of LA, especially in our beloved Little Tokyo. Protestors need to know that this is sacred space. The US rounded up our families right there to send them to camps with no due process. So, for our ancestors, we want to keep it clean.

When Christian worship music is treated the same way as porn, you might be in a weird-ass cult. We're back at Bob Jones U (BJU) this week with @rickpidcock.bsky.social

Sometimes lying is the best way forward for people who leave church and faith.

An easy way to observe #AAPIHeritage month is to listen to two Asian guys talk shit about religion and deconstruction. Thanks to @rohadi.bsky.social for a great conversation.

This week! @rohadi.bsky.social does time on Chapel Probation. A rare podcast episode with 2 Asians talking about faith deconstruction and finding identity. Listen in observance of #aapiheritage even though Rohadi is Canadian. We'll count it.

We wrap up the year with Dr Lucas Wilson who went to Liberty U. He went through some bizarre experiences there and in the requisite conversion therapy. But he's out, in all ways, and doing amazing things.

Chaz survived abuse of every kind under the Christian umbrella. But he's outside and away from all of that and part of a loving family and community.

If you're old enough to remember Footloose, you'll understand what life was like for Dr. David Olsen at Cedarville College. But he survived, came out, and started Cedarville Out to help LGBTQ+ people there to survive so they can thrive when they leave. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/c...

Every time I post, I wonder how peoples' assumptions about Asian men affect how they read my words. I don't think I expressed "rage" until the end when I brought up the cover up of abuse. I say in a few places I'm not "pinning it all on him." And I start by "denouncing" the harm I caused. 🤔

It was a busy year at Axis Mundi and it was amazing to work with so many academics and writers to shed light on important topics like Christian nationalism and purity culture. And writing and recording music for these projects was a blast.

It's dark times for LGBTQIA students at christian schools. There has been an increase in anti-queer incidents on these campuses. REAP is launching its programming to give those students community and a voice. Please consider donating to help REAP with its mission. secure.actblue.com/donate/scott...
