My God, that’s the way to handle it. Never could happen here, though Even the “opposition” is far too corrupted.

Nah. They’d just hear about something, copy it, and act like they invented it.

LOL. A few years ago, I was sitting in a bar one afternoon when a young man raced in asking the bartender for ice. "My girlfriend fell off a Bird," he said. I was sure one of us had lost his mind.

Well, it will. But they won’t be reminded of anything good.

The tone of that post suggests he's quite a joy to be around.

He said it was his earliest political memory AND the biggest event of his lifetime. I was responding to the latter.
November 23, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Not trying to change the subject, but I’m about the same age, and I think the biggest event in my lifetime, by far, was the moon landing. Or are we believing conspiracy theories about that, too?

He should be offering his opinion from jail.

Having tried to make your point myself, it seems to me that some people really don’t seem to get the idea of structural or institutional power, who has it, or that there is a difference between having an opinion and the means to effect it. Good luck, brother

There’s one box she didn’t check, and joined up anyway.

Of course they are.

I think that’s clear

I have a literate person's understanding of "pay" and "2025." And you obviously GAS about something or you'd have shut up and taken your L a long time ago. Learn something from the Jays.

Payroll: "a list of a company's employees and the amount of money they are to be paid." Everything you mentioned is either a) not paid to an individual or b) not paid THIS YEAR, which was the point. The Dodgers are paying less money to their players in 2025 than the Mets. Sorry.
November 3, 2025 at 4:57 PM
No, I want to pretend that what people get paid in 2025 is what they get paid in 2025.
November 3, 2025 at 3:25 PM
I get the point, but as a Dodgers fan watching largely from the outside, it looked pretty good to me to at least be competitive.

Considering only payroll way oversimplifies things. As someone pointed out here, the Dodgers literally needed a role player to win. BTW, when the Dodgers spent 30 years not winning, I was so jealous of the Braves. Even when they didn't win, they were in the hunt.
November 2, 2025 at 5:50 PM
That's true, but Toronto had the 5th highest payroll. Not exactly the bottom of the barrel, and they could easily have won. I think chirping about money in a rich man's game (ownership) does take something away from the Dodgers. If it were only money, the Jays would have been playing the Mets
November 2, 2025 at 5:42 PM
It is not the highest payroll in the history of the game. It is not the highest payroll this year. Don't pull for them if you don't want to. No need to make things up.

I call it arguing in bad faith.

I’ll expect you to post it again at a timely moment tomorrow

I was 27 when they won it in 1988. The next time they won it, I was 59. At no time in that 38 years was annul home attendance less than 2 million, no matter how bad they were. Anyone who says Dodger fans are “spoiled and entitled” can kiss my you-know-what
