Yes. A good reminder that even if we are not directly involved, we will be affected. The oil companies will not give us a discount. We need to push for renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal) to power our infrastructure at a minimum.

What does this mean for investigators and the continuity of research? Medical research is not something you can put down and pick up on a dime.

I am very much a centrist. Conservatives used to be pro small-government and fiscally conservative. Whatever they are now is not this.

And they need a sensible leader. Poilievre sounds far too much like the MAGAs in the US. You can be the opposition without the name calling.

The conservatives were split, but the PCs and the Canadian alliance (reform party) merged in the early 2000s.

I worked in the US for 20+ years and am dismayed at the Americanization of Canadian elections.
Canadians are free to join any political party and select the party leader…who does not need to be an MP.

I recognized that you were Canadian. Me too. It bothers me when I hear people say “unelected PM”. That came up with Kamela Harris being the Dem candidate without primaries in the US election. Same with the use of the term “woke”.
