Shout out to @adriennemassanari.bsky.social for introducing me to David Golumbia. Already shed some tears over the foreword. Considering the current state of…things, I’m both excited and terrified about reading his work. But here we go

I've gotten a lot of review requests recently & this isn't the first time I've come across this evaluation, but I really wonder how much more unpaid labor by journals (who make huge profit, just think of the ridicoulously high OA fees) will be put on academic reviewers?

What if platforms decided what you should search for, without telling you how or why? In this position paper co-authored with @taylorannabell.bsky.social, @gorwa.ca, Jacob van de Kerkhof & @thalesbertaglia.bsky.social, we explore the TikTok Search feature and the governance challenges it creates.

Over 50k showed up in #Bremen today to demonstrate against fascism — framed as a demonstration for „human rights, democracy and solidarity“. Diverse groups came together to organize it, including „grandmas against the right“. A little wholesome despite the cold (metaphorically and physically)

Just wrapped up my undergrad seminar on the politics of social media platforms by discussing events of the past month and worries about future developments. Students shared that they avoid social media because of AfD supporters using blue hearts to flood comments sections ahead of #Germanelections

I WISH this lecture by Adorno on „Aspects of Contemporary Right-Wing Radicalism“ was already translated into other languages. It’s a lecture from 1967 and was only published in 2020. Back then it read like he’s talking about our state of the world.
