I like books and cats and screaming into the void.
I've been reading a lot of romance lately to see if I can find something I like. I enjoyed that this one was more light-hearted, but maybe it was also so light-hearted that the stakes never really felt meaningful?

I picked this book up at the library because it looked short and I thought I could handle horror if short. I read it in daylight just in case (good call). It's very tense and definitely the kind of book you want to talk about later. More questions than answers.

I didn't know what to expect with this but the voice in this is SO BOB MORTIMER and it's very comforting and absurd and fun. I feel like this is Bob telling me a funny story through a character that feels very him, and I'm here for it.

I was annoyed that the first installment of this series ended on a sour note but I enjoyed returning. So much thought and weaving went into both halves of this story. I was tense for a lot of this one, and my main complaint is that you get so little time to bask in the conclusion.

I'm dipping my toe into romance to see if I can find things to fill the void that Baldur's Gate fanfiction has created. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, actually liked the characters and did not cringe much. The data, Asian, and autism angles helped it feel interesting.

I really enjoyed this series and I'm sad to be done. It took a little longer to get to the adventure/mystery! of this one, but I read over half of the book in one sitting so safe to say it did get very gripping!

I was expecting a more macro/systemic approach but Desmond followed people through sizable periods experiencing poverty in Milwaukee. It still makes systemic problems very clear through their accounts, and it's thought-provoking but tough to get through all the repeated struggle.

I learned a lot about the experience and difficulty of being a sociopath in society, but damn, I wish the chapters were organized more thematically or temporally or something. It started to feel very repetitive. I listened to last chapters of the book, happy with that decision.

I loved June Farrow so I wanted to check this out, but the flavor of fantasy/magic is subtler. It's more about relationships and the nature of knowing and loving someone - with a mystery on top. I enjoyed it.

This series came recommended for fans of the Emily Wilde series and I think it was an apt rec. It was fun vibes and mystery! It did feel like Raybourn is laying the groundwork to move into romance territory, though, so we'll see how the next one goes...

I'm still in a slump, but I enjoyed this book. I didn't expect it to essentially be about science and critical thinking, but I learned things and feel more grounded in what we know vs don't know. Will stress less about Cheetos and headlines. Maybe a little more about sunscreen.

Lucky book #13 of the year. Fonda Lee's Green Bone saga is definitely the best fantasy series I've picked up in recent memory. I am so invested in the Kaul family and so tense for most of these books but I can't get enough.
