Which kind of shoes, spouse has similar problem and has defaulted to merrell moc because they have women’s sizes and have a store in Zürich. they’re not exactly stylish but get the job done.

This mostly comes from experience living in minnesota in the past, which apparently is a little warmer than lapland but also gets cold snaps. Also include gloves and a hat! Have fun!

Proper shoes can help with two problems: how much heat you lose in the feet (both insulation & sole thickness) and grip on icy surfaces. Sometimes with very cold weather ice builds up on everything even with good snow removal practices.

+1 to other folks talking about thermal underwear, can help tons too. Layering is hard to say because it depends on how you handle the cold and your style, but pullover/LS shirt/thermal top and pants/thermal bottom plus outerwear should be good?

I usually have a parka. Consider wind resistance because the cold wind makes it way worse. They have cold snaps there so you have to be prepared for it. Consider pants that have some thermal mass or at least aren’t completely breezy. A long jacket can help even if the pants aren’t warm.
