Hard to beat someone who's well-known, and who was part of people's morning routine for years. My community was previously part of Emanuel Cleaver's district (Kansas City), but was gerrymandered to make it even harder for a Democrat to be elected, barring a wholesale shifting of political momentum.

I am an Alford constituent. He's another one of those former TV talk show hosts who got tired of pretending to be pleasant and friendly, and decided to let his inner mean-spirited demon free. So, of course, he's been elected twice, and counting.

If they can improve the safety for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and bicyclists, amen!

Similar story here: we have a 3-year gap before Medicare. 2025 is locked in, presumably, but after that, it's a hope and a prayer that the ACA survives...
