I love the Soderbergh quote about Fury Road. The amount of technical mastery required to pull that movie off is incredible

I used to work in a ski shop and we had more of those hand warmers than we ever knew what to do with and more showed up every year. They are not hard to come by

I agree but speaking as a Canadian, with a few exceptions (Quebec city for example) there just isn't the same juxtaposition of the past and present here so it's a bit jarring at first. Though that doesn't excuse a bunch of North Americans acting with no self awareness of course.

Absolutely baffled that this was the article push alert I got yesterday from the CBC. What on earth is that second sentence doing in the headline

It's an almost entirely silent sequence so it's a bit different from what you're referring to but the HALO drop in Godzilla (2016) does a really amazing job of establishing stakes and scale for the last third of the movie. Overall that movie is just okay but that sequence rules.

Technically you don't even need your provincial health ID card to vote here. If you have someone there who can act as a witness and swear you are who you say you are, that's enough. And if you don't have that you can swear an oath asserting your identity and you're allowed to vote.

It's great but yes, that is the case. Not every episode but there were a few that absolutely wrecked me

We've been having this fucking debate argument for a decade at this point. It obviously didn't fucking work, why are people still saying this.
