We finished Clair Obscur! WHAT A GAME. Now it’s time for our 🎃 HALLOWEEN SEASON SPECIAL 🎃: we’re playing Folklore for the PS3 over the next few weeks! During that time you can vote on whether we play Radiata Stories, the Golden Sun duology, Panzer Dragoon Saga, or Dragon Quest IV next. rpgbook.club

This week we begin our playthrough of the experimental, innovative masterpiece Live A Live! We’ll be playing the remake, though Trish is also playing the Super Famicom version so we can have context on the differences. Our first episode will cover the Present Day and Twilight of Edo Japan chapters.

Also, we can now announce the winner of the poll… our next game is, by a landslide, the Cavia classic, Yoko Taro’s directorial debut, Drakengard! Does it rule? Does it kinda suck? Probably both! We’ll find out next week!

This week on RPG Bookclub we played Episode 0 of nth Circle Studios’ “of the Devil,” and holy cow we loved it! Episode 0 is free on Steam, so go play it before you listen to us spoil it!

Future seasons of THE ESCAPE POD and TALES OF PODCASTIA (and any other multi-episode games we decide to cover on the bonus feed) will be recorded ahead of time then released weekly once we’ve finished the game. It’ll be easier on us and make it so there’s not big hiatuses in the middle of seasons.

Our Christmas Special this year covers the 1999 Dreamcast game BLUE STINGER! It’s weird and janky and sucks but ALSO it rules? Also it takes place at Christmas which is why it’s a Christmas game.
