Reads for fun, codes for money. He/him
This is going to be less awful than the "substituted goose fat for dairy" concoction but...no. If you don't want to separate eggs just buy packaged eggnog and add a few fresh spices along with the booze.

The Dark Eye is a very popular RPG in Germany and I'd say the core setting is very medieval central European.

For a different take on the relationship between truth and nonsense her story "Marsh Gods" is well worth reading.

IIRC this is one of the flat out oddest chapters in the whole cycle -- up there with the jungle.

Don't they in fact know every consequence of the actions they will perform in their own futures?

Unlike the green man or the man from the ice those using Merlin's method seem to go straight up the branching stream of time.

Like if I look at things recruiters sent me prior to 2022, it's a lot of "vision/machine learning" roles whereas now it's "AI startup".

Of course some of those companies were Nuro\.ai, ghost\.ai, so it's not like AI wasn't a well used term.

Screenshot is massively overstating things, but I would say that "Machine Learning" was the preferred term of art for years prior to the ChatGPT announcement, to avoid over promising. And Sam's hype did change it back to AI

CEO of the first place I worked used to say "Million dollar ideas are a dime a dozen" -- execution and getting the details right has always been the hard part.

All this missing is an overly on the nose musical cue after the *squints* "but we serve a just God" line.
December 13, 2025 at 3:05 AM
So...are you sure that's Weiss? Because it's actually EXACTLY the right lighting for the low budget TV melodrama EK is channeling.

Just say vingt-treize, if they don't have 70, 80, or 90 they can deal with not having 30 either.

It feels like a failure for it to be in the news, the same way I never want to see "reinsurance" in a headline or lede

This is a guy who thinks you couldn't say terrorist after 9/11 and believes "the Twitter files" so I don't think it's his wife who has Internet poisoning.

Do you have a phone chain for school closures? There was a list by our phone and you called the next person down on it -- if they didn't answer you left a message and called the next.

In my experience this is absolutely it except that developers drive very little of it compared to PMs, Designers, and upper management.

That's the all races tab - white college educated men had more trump voters.
December 9, 2025 at 6:45 AM
I did just ditch some unread business/popsci books that were on it so that soothing. Keeping "The True Believer" because it's not SUPPOSED to be an instruction manual for finding suckers.

I'm sure a tiny fraction of users does everything in private session mode but most people actually want recommendations and that does require a personalized listening history.
December 9, 2025 at 1:34 AM
The rev pool system Spotify uses means they don't actually need to track that Joe listened to 123 three times, they just need to increment the number of listens for the month by 3. The short lived data pipeline for de-spamming can be different than the long history for recs and Wrapped.

Only for implying I need to somehow make Spider into three syllables.
December 8, 2025 at 7:07 PM
So while I've enjoyed every book I would NOT recommend Hollow Places or Twisted Ones to someone with a minimal horror appetite.
December 6, 2025 at 6:22 AM
Oh the flashbacks that gives me to an extremely nasty ambush by shotgun wielding priests.
December 4, 2025 at 5:49 PM
The only problem with that comparison is that weathervanes are more useful.
