Pixel artist/Programmer/Game Designer/Dad. Super Crate Box, Serious Sam: Random Encounter, Luftrausers, Whipseey, Last Mage Standing and ULTRABUGS (eventually)
Had the opportunity to animate a bunch of fun little spirits, alongside an array of talented artists. With one of my first spirits being one of my favorite animation this year :)

It also 50% off on steam right now, so support the dev! Support pixel art!

For textures, I'd recommend looking at BoF 3. If you render the model ate the same resolution as the sprites (256x144?), then it'll blend better with the sprites.

Trying to find the right style for a character can take some iterations. Example of my process. I try to not be to constrained by a single style, but I do like outlines! Concepts for a canceled game from many years back. Which one is your favorite? #pixelart #gamedev

It was also very fun to make Paul squirm when I designed another giant boss for him to animate hahaha

I think I'm most proud of the overworld tileset and sprites, along with the hero portraits. I've been humbled a few times by people telling me this game got them into making pixel art themselves.

Also in 2011, Serious Sam: the Random Encounter. One of the most fun projects I've had the honor to work on. Translating the series enemies into pixel versions was a joy. Another Fun @vlambeer.com game with animations by @pietepiet.com. More thoughts here: pixel-icious.com/serioussam.h...

Whilst programming I kept doing small pixel projects like this DSIware game, Flipper 2: Flush the Goldfish, in 2011. For which I did the backgrounds and the cover art/hero image. Charming characters were done by Paul again! Very Earthworm Jim Inspired.

Thought I'd take you on my journey as a pixel artist, starting 15 years ago. @jwaaaap.com asked me to do a quick redesign of the original game: Keeping the low resolution, but add detail wherever possible. Animated by the lovely @pietepiet.com. For more tidbits : pixel-icious.com/supercratebo...
