Imagine if we had a way to store power from solar and wind farms to turn them into dispatchable electricity sources that grid operators can turn on, off, or adjust in output level to meet fluctuating demand.

The wildfire impacts in Northern Manitoba are hitting hard. No power for at least a week in some communities.
Facebook post by Town of Leaf Rapids August 4, 2025 Update Hydro continues to be out in Leaf Rapids and elsewhere. As a result, communication is a challenge. We are attempting to get information through other channels. The last regular update we were able to be provided with was August 1. Information obtained this morning advises that Manitoba Hydro has set August 11 as the extimated restoration day for power to Leaf Rapids. We do know yesterday was a challenging day for the firefighters with southerly winds blowing the fire towards Town from the south. As soon as we find out what if anything has happened in the Town we will share what we know. Like you, we too want to know. We are hopeful to hear soon. Thank you for your patience.
