Many protestors hold up pictures of Palestinian children killed in Gaza as well as those of kidnapped Israeli hostages. If we have no empathy for the suffering of others, what is left of our humanity?

The situation in Israel is not good. A crazy government extending a terrible war to retain power while reducing freedoms. Despite the violence against protestors we will continue to stop the war, return the hostages and seek peace.

This week I came for my last day at the university before setting off for a 1 year sabbatical at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The amazing students in my lab surprised me with a goodbye party. So lucky to be working with such talented and kind people! Thanks salomonlab.org

No matter how bad things seem, we all have an opportunity and obligation to make them better. After the crazy war with Iran we are back on the street protesting for peace and the return of the hostages. #NeverGiveUP

Most of the day I'm ok. I function well under stress, taking my kids to the bomb shelter while still responding to emails , writing papers and cooking. But every day there is a moment where the reality breaks though and I cry for all the people, on all sides, suffering in this tragedy. Peace.

Saturday evenings are dedicated to demonstrations (just the last 2.5 years or so). Despite police actions against this, people are bravely holding up pictures of innocent Palestinian children killed in Gaza. We must remember that most people on both sides just want to live in peace!

Every year we light candles to remember my mother's 7 aunts and uncles and grandparents murdered by Nazi's in
Auschwitz. For me the tragedy of the holocaust is a reminder to always fight for life and humanity and against hatred and racism. This is salvation.

After 3 consecutive days of demonstrations, rain and police violence a relaxing day with the family. Now flying to NYC to give a talk at the UN on our clinical and research work with the amazing Nova survivors.
