I am merely interested to see what would happen if an establishment-backed dem candidate was allowed to run the campaign they wanted and not the campaign the consultants want

We don't really know this for sure. No mainstream dem candidate has been allowed to try a different strategy. Would be interesting to see the popular response to a true progressive candidate who is actually backed the DNC/establishment Dems.

The only thing this chart shows is that the Southern Strategy worked very well. White American voters have always been pretty terrible, this isn't anything new.
