As an elder millennial who had unfettered access to the internet as a teenager, I can absolutely say with 100% certainty that they should not be interacting with strange adults on the internet...

So sadly, it will take more time, more lives lost, and far more suffering, before the American public as a whole are ready to confront the reality of the government that they've been taught is right and just and "the best in the world".

But eventually the pain will come for everyone in a way that is so obvious that no one will be able to say "that's just how it is" anymore. But our government is working very hard to point the finger at the "others" and many people aren't ready to face the fact that their reality is crumbling.

It's been ingrained in us that our plight is part of a necessary journey to self betterment, and that those who are suffering "deserve" that suffering. Many have not been harmed in a way that is direct and clear enough for them to understand that the system is broken.

So many Americans are fighting a losing battle from the moment they are born. We are tired. And many of the people who believe in this system have not been directly harmed by it in a way that they can correlate with abuse - it's our own fault right? That or there's a terrifying "other" to blame.

America was built on a foundation of subjugation and oppression. We are a culture of suffering that earnestly believes that if you were "good enough", "smart enough", "strong enough", you wouldn't have to struggle. So rather than question the systems that maintain that structure we blame ourselves.

Unfortunately after being told it probably wasn't possible to get ICE agents in Chicago body cams, the judge said she "wouldn't require people to turn on a body camera that they don't have." So there's absolutely no motivation for them to get cameras.
