The first paragraph is intriguing when beginning to read the book. Going back to it after completing the book has a deeper message. Each character of the story had a dream, some more seaworthy than others. Time is not always a friend.

I agree. He was an unlikable character in many ways. I like how Janie, in the end, returned to her house…no apologies. The house which she did not sacrifice for Tea Cake.

It created a texture to the story that brought the characters to life. I almost felt I was living the experiences right along with them.

Janie did not want to marry her first husband and married the second to escape and hoping for someone who she could have a good life with. Instead it was another man who wanted her in the background, catering to his needs. Cake touched her soul in a different way and made her feel alive.

Things continually change. Evil leaders come and go. Yes, great damage can be done under their influence. Always keep the faith and strive for equity and justice.

I don’t agree. Larkin had been told her mother was a misguided person as long as she could recall. It created a bias in her opinion of her mother. Larkin developed notions of the world around her in response to her own survival defenses.

I am so happy that your life will be a little more comfortable. I’m sure there is a long way to go yet to have normalcy, and know you’re grateful for every blessing.

Yes. This does fit the storyline.
