I think the last time I saw it was 15-20 yrs ago when he stopped working on it and just left it there.

Yeah that’s too much. No-one should think it’s ok to say killing someone who is not directly physically harming someone. Also, no-one should imply that the way to stop someone saying things you don’t like is through violence, which is what this cartoon seems to say.
