Help. This is my attempt to create an abstract landscape book cover for my sci-fi novel. It’s the inside of the space station. Is this working or do I need more representational detail? What do yall think.

Anyone in Marion County/Central Florida? January is a good time to start getting (back) into poetry or maybe taking your poetry seriously. Our next meeting is 1/19 if you’d like to come and read/listen to some poetry.

I’m getting more committed to illustrating my own book covers.

I’ve been making art since I was little but always felt my style was too expressive/not illustrative enough. I don’t do realism. But with so much slimy AI realism maybe I should lean more into expressionism. THIS WAS MADE BY HAND!

Gizmo is the other kitten we rescued last year. He is 8 mos and went to get fixed and chipped today. He’s 10 lbs and we’re trying to figure out if that’s big average or small for an 8th month old. Our concept is skewed because we have some big cats.

I hear we like cats here.

Here Twinkie, one of the Gooby Brothers, sits in my son’s shoulder as he cooks. Second pic is the boys in a cuddle puddle.

These are the kittens we rescued between two hurricanes last year.

They are a lot of fun.

This is the largest painting I’ve ever done. 36”x36” and I think I really like it. I finished it yesterday which means it needs to sit around so I can look at it and find a name for it. Painting large was one of my goals for 2024 so I made myself pick it up again and finish it this week.

Meet the Gooby brothers. Our most recent rescued. Found in a box at the gas station between two hurricanes. We said we’ll just keep them until we find homes for them.

Yeah that didn’t work. Twinkie, Mac and Cheddar Cheese aka Chidi.

Today I painted these two. Really it was just the floral but I had so much paint left on my palette that I did the abstract and look how well they go together. Also the landscape was yesterday. That was a leftover paint painting too.

This is my favorite wip today. The flowers look like a memory or maybe myopia.

It is. Thank you. But I didn’t realize the correct pics weren’t in the photos here. Because I forgot to take stills. It’s these four.

I was wrong. It’s these I hung. I forgot to take a photo of them

I think she was referring to these four because I just hung them.

Mona, cranky and too old to give a flick, and Dragon, her sentient alien spaceship, travel the solar system selling fake magic alien charms and being free— until a stowaway begs for help. Because she heard witch and thought hero?

A new painting today. Kept it loose and expressionistic. Might need some work on the table. Maybe a shadow. Maybe a fun pattern idk

I wanted to show you guys this quartet of orange wildflowers I painted. A reminder that weeds keep growing.

I voted today. Was so much easier than Election Day. No lines at the library. Took my 19 yo son and another 18 yo who couldnt get a ride. As a reward I stopped by the library charity book shop and got a pile of historical romance novels w step backs.

My two 6x6” floral paintings. I did manage these during the hurricane. I have to wire them because the submission for the show is next week.

So. Hurricane coming to town. I’m probably safe from damage but not betting that I’ll have electricity the whole time. Meanwhile have a couple paintings I did this week. First one is ‘Gothika Flora’ and the second is Milton inspired.
