Current hyperfixations:
Books,…and that’s it. I only allow myself to enjoy one thing at time and it becomes my personality.
55. Apprentice to the Villain: Hannah Nicole Maehrer
I am still not the target audience for this series but I was able to get more into this book than the first. The story was more exciting for me and character development was well done.

54. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: Agatha Christie
My first Christie book and I highly enjoyed it. I correctly guessed the killer pretty early on but I assume that’s due to tropes being copied from this author over the years. Regardless, I appreciate the journey.

53. Reincarnation Blues: Michael Poore
This is right up there with The Hearts Invisible Furies and Dungeon Crawler Carl as one of my favorite books. Look up trigger warnings and some parts may be problematic, but after 9,994 lives everything has happened.

50. Path to Villainy: S.L. Rowland
A fun story. Felt like the end went a little too quickly for me but it was enjoyable to see the “hero” in the story rise with the goal of becoming a villain.
It’s nice to see Author Steve Rowland find success off the stage.

48. Ring Shout: P. Djeli Clark
What a ride. I had no idea this book was supernatural at all and it was a trip. I like historical fiction and a story of a group of women hunting racists sounds pretty cool as is but then it got delightfully weird and meaningful.

47. Dawnshard: Brandon Sanderson
Figured my break from my Cosmere journey had been long enough and it was nice to be back. Lopen and Rysn were already characters I really enjoyed so I loved the focus on them. Easily one of my favorite stories in this world.

46. Yes Please: Amy Poehler
I love Amy so when I decide I wanted to try an autobiography this was an obvious choice. Really enjoyed it and did not mind at all how it jumped around. Also love that she read the audiobook herself. Would recommend to anyone.

45. Silver in the Wood: Emily Tesh
Picked up blind at the library and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy supernatural mythology and vibed with the main character. The amount of gay romance I accidentally end up reading has led to some questions from my wife.

44. Killers of the Flower Moon: David Grann
I realize with books I tend to seek out a healthy dose of white guilt. This story I knew nothing about and I am glad I am no longer ignorant of it. It’s disheartening to see how little has changed in people’s hearts.

43. Paladin’s Grace: T. Kingfisher
Continuing my T. Kingfisher run and returning to the same world as Swordheart. Love the characters and I’m excited to follow this series. She has perfected the art of fantasy yearning, “just kiss already” happens a lot.

42. A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking: T. Kingfisher
I am on a T. Kingfisher kick and had heard about this several times even though it was a YA. This was a lot of fun, touch of cozy fantasy with actual stakes and the magic system is a lot of fun.

41. A Short Stay in Hell: Steven L. Peck
Found something short to try and finish while out of town a few days, I finished it on day one. I loved this brief glimpse into a hell where time seems infinite and what the smallest speck of hope can do to you.

40. The Haar: David Sodergren
Not even a little bit was this book what I expected it to be. I want 84 year old Scottish women to be the protagonists of every book I read. She was badass. The story was haunting, sad, gruesome, but weirdly sweet and funny.

39. Castle of Wizardry: David Eddings
4 books down, 1 to go. I have an enjoyed this series but can admit a lot of that comes from the narration of the audio books. The voices are very well done. I do like the characters but the plot involves a lot of travel.

38. Wild and Wrangled: Lyla Sage
I shall miss you sexy, boundary respecting cowboys, and hope to see you again. The delusion of “I’d probably be that cool and have mastered lovemaking too if I worked at a ranch” was a fun fantasy to have.

34. Somewhere Beyond the Sea: TJ Klune
I had to immediately follow with the next one. This was a great sequel. In the beginning I was worried it was going to be too different but it quickly returned to what i loved from the first book, with some higher stakes. #booksky #books
33. The House in the Cerulean Sea: TJ Klune
I enjoy a lot of genres but nothing beats cozy fantasy for me and this one is top tier. Love the characters and I’m actually sad I don’t know them. Please god let Chauncey grow up to be a bell hop, it’s all I want. #booksky #books
32. Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal - Christopher Moore
Funny and has a lot of heart. Enjoyed the spin on all of the well known stories. The ending made me both sad and happy, any ending that can pull that off is a good one in my book. #booksky #books
