This movie was, according to my parents, my first hyper fixation. I used to watch it over and over when I was a toddler. My next one was the labyrinth, which really explains a lot about me

Lastly the main character is a teenager sent from his home, which is basically a police state based off perfection and order, because he asked too many questions, essentially.

So the magic system, as so far as it's been explained, is unique. There's chaos magic, which is white and order magic which is black. Chaos is the bad magic, but it's not bad, not really, it's more how it's used.

So the writing isn't the best, he does this weird thing where he writes out sounds, rather than describing them, so "he drew his sword with a sound of metal on metal" becomes "he drew his sword shhhtck." I don't love it but it's fine. What's interesting and cool about the book is the world building
