Older. Wiser? Probably not. He/Him.
A lot of the sales of games that are heavily discounted or bundled come from gamers that grab games more with a collector mentality than a desire to actually play them. There were articles about this recently (www.dexerto.com/gaming/exper...), and my own backlog of shame jives with that conclusion.
Steam is successful because people buy games they never play, expert reveals - Dexerto
A video game marketing consultant believes Steam’s most powerful feature isn’t its extensive library or sales, it’s the fact that most people hoard games.

Loved 4e, but it provided incredibly limited tools to engage with anything besides combat. I played weekly organized play games at the tail end of 4e, and over half the play time was combat. The last campaign from wizards was supposed to bridge 4e & 5e, and there was no combat. It was miserable.

That's the premise of Eternal Strands. It's a single player extraction game, though more of a Zelda BotW style fantasy game rather than a shooter.

The "Skyward" remix from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been the song my alarm plays for the better part of a decade now. All of their album collections have a few all-time bangers, especially the Wild Arms collection. I still follow artists I found there, like Zircon and Big Giant Circles.

And more directly, a series of raids at the end of FFXIV's second expansion, if you don't mind playing hundreds of hours of MMO content ranging from amazing to unbearable first.

I haven't played that game in 25+ years and I can still hear that line reading. 🦉🐍🥾☠️

Little troll bro in the bottom right just wants to show off the neat rock he found.

I can't speak for the console saves, but it's possible. Witcher 1 is a PC exclusive title and never came out for the console. It's an old-school CRPG, so unless you play on PC there's no way to play the trilogy until the rumored remake comes out.

I've played all 3, and it is a really great series, with some caveats. Witcher 1 is an old CRPG, which might not be for everyone. Witcher 2 is great but was heavily influenced by Dark Souls in terms of combat and is smaller in scope. Both games over 30 hours long but your save carriers between games

I caught her red shirt in the background when I watched it, but skipping around I can't find it now. It said that she worked as a trauma response actor, though I forget the exact wording. I remember because I saw it and said out loud "Oh it would have spoiled the reveal" if she would have said it.

I still listen to the soundtrack to UO sometimes. I've never found a game that feels as good for exploration.

Shout out to the person who made parody songs about UO back in the day. I still think of the "Pre-Patch Day" song every time a new patch breaks a game. Oh, and the IAmaNewbie web comic!

Can't beat a good quality office chair. I grabbed a dumpster-bound Aeron chair with a cracked seat some years back, and with a few part swaps it's doing great even though it's old enough to vote. Good chairs are real Vimes Boots economics, but for backpain, and it's easier to get them secondhand.

I picked this game up on release, despite the fact that it came out only a couple of weeks before Half Life 2. It was janky, buggy, and you could feel the devs running out of money. I don't often replay games, but every 5 years or so I find my way to play it again. The hotel is always terrifying!

This was such a wild game at the time. The fact that characters permanently died if they were wiped out and their absence could influence the story was mind-blowing at the time. It was wild going from Shining Force, which is a low stakes romp, to this game.

The chest tattoo is fantastic. Ironically, he kind of looks like the old Gamepro 5/5 rating icon. Awesome job!

Exactly where my brain went, though I was thinking about the sequel, Shining Force 2, because of the ad featuring the "Live Action" version of Chester the Centaur. It also has Pegasus Centaurs which I don't think I've seen anywhere else. Chester can upgrade into a Pegataur if you find the right item

The first MK movie is actually a great movie, which is probably why no one listed it. OK, it's kind of derivative of a bunch of different kung-fu movies, but it worked really well and was fun. The sequel on the other hand is awful, but its soundtrack was almost as good as the first movie's.

Have a look at Erenshor. It's still in early access, but it does a great job feeling like a live early MMO while being entirely single player. The simulated players and even the simulated text chat are surprisingly well done.

Real maple syrup should be stored in the fridge or it will develop mold. The mold isn't dangerous, and can be removed with effort, but if you keep it in the fridge it won't get mold in the first place. It also pours more easily that artificial syrup, though artificial syrup doesn't get the mold.

So part of the reason the asteroid was so devastating is that it created so much heat that the air was very briefly as hot as an oven across much of the world, and trees hundreds of miles away combusted from the heat. Anything without a way to keep cool (underground, in water) had a very rough time

I've never played this game (despite the huge advertisement on the back of my copy of the cardboard Dues Ex CD case) but I did watch a 2+ hour long "movie" Jake Hughes made of it over a decade ago. I think they even sold DVDs of it? This seems to be a higher-res copy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9es...

I think it's the total lack of prompts and the fact that most of the interactable objects are just flat textures on walls. Spamming "open" to interact isn't logical without Wolf3D/Doom experience. But as a 13 year old, I definitely spammed everything in hopes of seeing anything that felt "naughty"
