We also have Smith Tower, which was the tallest building west of the Mississippi when it was built in 1914. Apparently it used to house a lesbian bar owned by the founder of the Ivar’s restaurant chain.

One of my best finds so far this week. 8yo Nellie and 10yo Agnes, living in Kansas in 1901, were first cousins of my great-great-grandmother. Gotta love some rowdy little girls!
