Monkeybone (2001) - first time viewing

Conversely, my roommate was too worried about how cringe this would be if I watched it. Impressive sets and I did laugh some despite the main set up of the plot being genuinely pretty heartbreaking.

Scooby-Doo (2002) - rewatch

For the most part, it holds up. Really fun movie! I'm glad it was as good as I remembered otherwise I would have been very embarrassed convincing my roommate to watch it.

... I've been trying to do these in the order of completion but I realized I forgot a few things. Oops!

Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated (2010-2013) - first time viewing

I don't think I have anything groundbreaking to say but this was a great show with solid interpretations of the cast. Truly how to do a reboot of a beloved property.

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) - first time viewing

I went in knowing the plot and the final reveal but it didn't make it any less enjoyable (and I still got pretty emotional.) Embarassingly, the first film I've seen with Davis and Crawford and they truly are electric!! I understand now.

My Cousin Vinny (1992) - first time viewing

Great movie! Great cast! Marisa Tomei deserved that best actress win! Had a lot of elements that appealed to me specifically.

Disco Elysium (2019) - replay

DE is probably in my top 5 games of all time, if not top 3. I'm not exaggerating when I say I think it's changed me as a person. And I'm still changing. Even in the year or so since I originally played it, I feel like I was a different person compared to who I am now.

Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost (1999) - rewatch

This one I watched much less frequently as a kid. Still entertaining, origin of the Hex Girls, all that. Funniest part was Velma rizzing up Ravencroft and him being really awkward and confused in response.

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) - rewatch

A genuine favorite, and holds up well for the most part. The Mystery Gang are well-written for what length the movie has. The most iconic music in the franchise outside of the actual theme song. Genuinely frightening animation. What's not to love?

Lust in the Dust (1984) - first time viewing

The very beginning and very ending were pretty strong but the middle was admittedly a bit of a slog with a few high points peppered in here and there. Could have been a bit more zany imo.

La Cage aux Folles (1978) - first time viewing

Sorry to be that guy but I prefer the changes The Birdcage ended up making. I was genuinely surprised how the remake was so beat-by-beat, even though I'd been told beforehand! Michel Serrault's little shrieks were fantastic I have to say.

Ghost World (2001) - first time viewing

I'm always intrigued by films of this genre, I never really end up enjoying them quite as much as I'd like I think. It wasn't bad but the second-hand embarrassment in the back half was killing me a bit, even if it was definitely necessary.

Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000) - first time viewing?

I don't remember whether or not I've watched this one as a kid, nothing felt super familiar to me. Not a bad movie but definitely not the best, which we all know which one that is... I appreciated Crystal as a character.

Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram (2024) - first time viewing

Solid Conan movie, though not my favorite. Hijiri was quite likeable! I think the biggest impact this movie has is the (in)famous reveal, which I was a big fan of since it suits the characters sibling-like dynamic.

Chicago (2002) - rewatch

Pacing was way more bizarre than I'd remembered it. Good music though and I liked the juxtaposition of reality vs the musical numbers.
