Aye, it is was a weird choice to emphasize on NPCs and people do have their own expectations. That being said, Prime 3 wasn't exactly a silent game and federation marines aren't a new thing in the series either. I'm not worried and will wait for the release to make my opinion anyway 😌

That's a criticism I see a lot, and it's an understandable one (until people go full psychotic and claim these NPCs have ruined a game they haven't played yet, that is). AFAIC, I'm fine with a game not re-doing exactly the same thing as its predecessors and being a bit more lively.

Everyone loves Doc Delbert Doppler, I definitely didn't mean to belittle Delbert Doppler. You could consider he's such an iconic character he's become an archetype in popular media and thus every depiction of a goofy scholar out on a space trip now makes the wider audience think of Delbert Doppler.

He likely won't be a *good* character so to speak or have nearly as much development but I was more like hmmm... big nose scholar, goofy guy on a dangerous planet he's definitely not trained to survive on… the ressemblance is uncanny.

I don't mind games having a humble production (although the Ryza games were sold for the same price as, say, Xenoblade 3 or BotW on the Switch...) and most of my favorites games are indie, that's not an excuse for lack of polish and blandness !

It would have been a great game with some more polish and good intentions, and less of the usual corporate greed. I don't know how the other games of the series are but that studio is churning out at least one episode per year, that's ridiculous

…but it had a cozy vibe and I enjoyed the Alchemy system so I kept coming back to it sporadically, and it provided some nice moments of detente at a time I wasn't doing too good.

Picked Ryza 3 when it came out and I'm still enjoying it every once in a while. I somehow grew fond of her.

It's unbalanced, rushed in many aspects, assets, characters and most designs are generic, DLCs are overpriced, characters lack depth, most dialogues are just empty small talk, monsters are the same three models retextured over and over, characters perpetually yell the name of their attacks in combat
