My friend said something similar this morning, basically, how many people would be waiting and instead hear the shofar blow.

It is. I always feel it right in the center of my being. Such a proud, beautiful, roaring sound.

I have my grandfather's shofar, and I blew it this morning. After a few stumbles, I finally managed a good sound. It felt...uplifting and courageous.
