A busy weekend, very church-dominated, but I have been blessed with many positive interactions and the chance to have some time off with friends, in the pool, running and looking at my natural surroundings.

Eastern Region Ministry Conference (my theology training institution) was a bit full-on but also good experience. I got to lead Sunday morning worship and to be an “acolyte”. We studied leadership as well.

Thinking about light today as it’s both Transfiguration Sunday and a sunny day ☀️ Also about the therapeutic effects of water, and the way we are finally crossing to Spring in the UK. Still wintery temperatures, though!🥶🌷☀️

The Christian Union at the University of East Anglia, where I am doing a chaplaincy-based placement, is running an Events Week next week. Please do join them for the activities if you are in campus. Also, several of them are doing a 20 hour prayer marathon, starting imminently. 🙏 welcome!

Week 1 of placement at UEA.

This week has afforded me many opportunities to meet with representatives of different communities at the UEA. I have been reflecting on the relationship between faith and student wellbeing and enjoying being back in a familiar context, albeit in a different rôle.
February 5, 2025 at 9:32 PM
On the way to the UEA this morning, I saw the early morning sunlight reflecting off the windows of the Ziggurats and Arts building. The photo doesn’t show this properly. Anyway, I thought this was a good sign. ☀️

Have started my 5 week-long social placement at the UEA, working with the UEA chaplaincy. I’ll be based at the multi-faith centre for part of each week. So far, morning prayer has with CU, meeting with CoE chaplain, sorting out internet access, Catholic midday prayer and some walking meditation.

Since leaving my full-time teaching job at INTO UEA, I have been able to revisit many times for work and play. The campus was buzzing today, now that term has begun. Happy New lunar year to those who are celebrating!

A useful training day focusing on digital technology as part of my priest training. Also had a peaceful wild swim with some fellow wild swimmers at the river near me and enjoyed my beautiful Marston Marshes.
