I recommend visiting the Washita Battlefield Historic Site where Custer attacked Black Kettle's band of the southern Cheyenne who were seeking peace. It is just north of Cheyenne, Oklahoma on the Washita River.

One of the wetter spots in Knott Prairie, a lowland prairie in the Platte River floodplain protected by Wachiska Audubon Society in Saunders County, Nebraska. Our next project will be controlling invasive eastern red cedar (ERC) and shrubs encroaching on the boundaries.
