Try it like this... Kerry positioned himself as a war hero, his opponents successfully branded him as a coward, counter to any reasonable evidence. Trump positions himself as a powerful, macho alpha. The "he's a chicken" and there's even clever evidence just makes it more likely to stick.

The folks who to this day don't understand why swift-boating or "let's go Brandon" worked to undermine public perception of democratic candidates are insisting that it's a foolish waste of time to negatively brand Trump as a chicken.

Maybe you can share where your definition of corruption requiring an explicit quid pro quo is coming from? Some of us who subscribe to your paper would love to know why the Merriam-Webster definition isn't sufficient. Or are you referring to a specific legal statute?

My taxes went up in Trump 1.0 for this reason as well. If you live in a blue state, own a home, make your living via paycheck instead of investment holdings and your municipality invests in silly services like educating your children, you took a hit.
