Is there a “per capita” view of this chart by state? It will tell a better story for rural states.

Read Neal Stephenson’s novel, The Diamond Age — it pretty much describes this societal construct in a far-future, just-around-the-corner tale.

At this point, I need to be grateful that I had a son who watched cartoons when he was little — otherwise I’d fat about 2% of these. Now I get about 10%.

There’s a new version of the show from last fall that my son is finishing up editing. It’s of my 40th performance of it, so it’s tighter. And it’s in a train station (the setting of the show)! I’ll nudge him to get it done. :-)

Hate to break it to you, friend, but the Big Bang Theory writers have an implant in your brain. Better lawyer up.

This immediately brought to mind your passage in K&C of the deadline-driven hovel of comicatricians — you brought that image to life. I could smell the scent concatenation of coffee, cigarettes, half-eaten take-out, BO, and ink.

Delighted to read that scene’s origin story.

Followed back. I’ll check out your stuff when I’m not on a deadline. Any suggestions on pieces to start with?

The highest compliment I could ask for! DW is my musical hero. The guitar in my profile pic is a David Wilcox Limited Edition RainSong guitar. The solo acoustic musical I perform was inspired by a fellowship for emerging songwriters I created w David. Check out www.MissRainsong.com.

Forgive me
It’s my first time on Earth
At least the first
I can recall
I’m still learning
How to be alive
So thank you all
For your kindness
Thank you all
For your compassion

All the reasons
We burn books about love
As we set
The Earth on fire
I’m still yearning
For some peace of mind
So thank you all
In advance for the answers
Thank you all
For your wisdom
Please say why

Has anybody seen
The missing pieces
Of my heart and soul
I thought I saw them
Jump the midnight train
They said something
About searching
For the meaning of it all
And they promised to return
With answers to explain

Has anybody seen
The missing pages
From my manual
There are some things
I'd like to understand
So many mysteries and questions
Leave me breathless
As they push and pull
My ponderings
Are getting out of hand

Not the perfect take and I couldn’t fix the wind noise despite using a screen, but, y’know, 19°… Plus the birds at the end were so lovely, I just had to use it. Lyrics below.

It was 19°F as I recorded this. I couldn’t feel my fingers by the second verse. But it is a profoundly beautiful day here in the 40-acre wood, so it seemed a fitting setting.

The song is based on the profound poetry of @daniellecoffyn.bsky.social whose poem, “If Adam Ate the Apple,” won the Pushcart Prize last year.

Please check out her remarkable work.
