Loads of Britain's town centres are too big and spread out. Parts should be knocked down so the new centre then has less empty shops and can be redeveloped. The old areas should then have social, retirement homes & flats built as they will more likely use those shops as local.

It wouldnt surprise me. The end of this week they say tariffs off as had some conversations with Canada etc and stocks jump 5-10%.

The question is if the government is planning for the US to go silent and no loner engage. If they are then Starmer is able to say we planned for this with changes and ideas. I genuinuly hope that is the case, other wise questions will be asked and it will look like we had no plan B or C..

There is a group think mentality in many political parties now, the GOP being the worst.

I heard similar, in part I guess that will depend on Germany. The bigger issue will be if consumers are happy to go back to purchasing Russian Oil / Gas to reduce costs and inflation. Pressure will build from those on the right of politics, its only a matter of time that debate starts.

It feels as though everyone is just waiting for the "straw that breaks the camels back" moment. My guess that'll be when the US begins lifting sanctions as that will assist Russia's war economy and the EU / UK refuse to follow.

Vance clearly has sights on being the next POTUS. For Starmer he has no choice but to try and keep the US on side and hopefully they commit to a back stop. Better to say you tried I guess.

Been impressed with Starmer the past week. His quiet controlled approach has worked well, he's never looked overwhelmed.

The worst part was the Vance statement about the "Propaganda Tour" shocking thing to say.

Very funny

He seemed relieved and with people he can trust. A moment to breathe.

I listened to LBC call-ins and some of the people excusing Trump & Vance sounded like they spent their entire life on social media believing every lie going.

No body wants to talk about it, but almost everyone it seems wants to moan about it.

I think these polls are generally pointless. The one thing Labour had said is that they wouldn't govern on a weekly or monthly basis and this is case and point. If they did they'd change policy every two minutes and make zero impact.

Also not forgetting the tax receipt which has dropped so the population has to make up the difference.

I can't see the future being all that bright for universities I'm afraid. With fees going up, and salaries not matching expectations more people will choose other options. Practical jobs offer money and skills hard to replicate.

I recorded it on Film4 for this very reason. Amazing movie, gun fight at the end is phenomenal.

Cant help think people have become the apes at the begining of 28 days later, forced to watch violence and develope rage. Maybe that will be the twist in 28 years later!

It amazes me the hypocrisy of those in charge of Social Media companies.

Theres always a line in the sand for sentancing and it cant keep moving whenever a new crime is commited. Also all the issue mentioned about prior to this was under the Tories I guess so not sure what she is attempting to say really. I cant help feleing Kemi wont be leading the Tories for long.

I agree growth is urgent, and alignment with Europe is the best way forward. The issue for Labour will be going too fast, not the direction. I guess we have to see how negotiations play out this year, that will give some ideas on time lines and the opposition noise level.
January 23, 2025 at 11:18 AM
Europe won't get a better chance to lead than the next four years. It has to take every opportunity it can whilst the US steps backwards.
January 23, 2025 at 11:14 AM
Labour have a large majority, but not a strong one. With Reform growing, even in younger voters theres no guarantee what will happen at the next election and Labour know that peoples main issues are around public services and costs. If those improve people will have less reseason to look to Reform.

My guess is Britain will join up to this and other offers. Its just about looking tough and taking small steps.
