A pre-dawn glow rises behind Hen Mountain, outlining its rugged tors as fog clings just below the summit. While in the foreground, small heather plants with their vibrant purple blooms thrive against the odds in the weathered rock crevices.

A South Armagh golden glow! Taken from Black Mountain, surrounded by gorgeous pink heather, a sunburst peeks through the clouds over the Ring of Gullion, lighting up Jonesborough and Forkhill below.

Dawn broke at Rossglass Beach, my landscape camera poised on the tripod pointing towards the Mournes. But a glowing sky elsewhere stole the show. So I grabbed my birding camera and zoomed in on St John’s Lighthouse with its striking yellow and black tower. #sunrise #stjohnspointlighthouse #ireland

Surrounded by pink sea thrift flowers and bathed in the gentle evening sunlight, our picnic on Great Saltee became an intimate encounter with these adorable wee puffins.

How many fish can you fit in a beak? …and still dripping wet. Taken yesterday evening in the soft golden evening light on the Saltee Islands off the coast of Wexford, Ireland. #birds #puffins #ireland #fotographie #photography #wildlifephotography

Each feather is carefully attended to... a cormorant preening at Clogherhead in Co Louth yesterday. So good to finally get out again with the camera … can't believe that the last time was back in January.

I've not been taking photos for the past few weeks so haven't been very active here. Sometimes we just need a break from the camera and social media and have a reset.
From my archives: this male reed bunting looks like he has a thick woolly scarf around his neck lol #birds #ireland #photography

There's just something about decaying hydrangea paniculata flowers. They look so attractive even in the middle of winter.

Ah, the tyranny of a blue sky for us landscape photographers, but hey, #BirdPhotography gear to the rescue. Even a blue sky has its perks once it comes to the evening sunshine – just look at that golden glow on the Black-tailed Godwits! #photography #wildlifephotography #birds #ireland #fotographie

Sandflies? Please. The golden light at Pāuatahanui Inlet was worth every itchy bite. This pied stilt | poaka shot at sunset is proof!

Sharing a different image I took of sunrise 2 weeks ago. The striking granite tors crowning Slieve Binnian (747m) in the Mourne mountains stood out boldly against the brightening sky, drawing me to capture the scene.

Today was a lovely day to be out with the camera doing some #birdphotography. There was hardly a breeze in Dundalk Bay & in the late afternoon sunshine we had two playful Redshanks to amuse us.

The fog enclosed us as we were trying to photograph the last of the heather blooms of the season. Taken along the Hen Mountain trail in the western Mournes while putting our hope & trust in midge repellent as those wee beasties are so aggressive.

Another one of my spring dreamy wildflower shots ~ wild garlic. I was almost intoxicated by the strong smell of garlic as I lay on the ground to get this shot as the woodland floor was a mass of white flowers as far as the eye could see.

We were back up at Flagstaff Viewpoint outside Newry this morning to enjoy the best of today's light. There was just a little fog and mist lingering around Slieve Foye in the distance.
