Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
5/5 ⭐
This brought me back to being 14 and entirely invested in a potential incest plotline (iykyk). Loved this book, loved the dialogue. Julian is so complex, I love him. Cassandra Clare has created such a rich world I care entirely too much about.

September wrap-up - Happy Spooky Season #booksky 🎃 Hoping to maybe get into a little horror for this month, which fully depends on how quickly I finish The Dark Artifices as I fear they come first 🤷‍♀️

The Goal by Elle Kennedy
3/5⭐

Pretty average read, still enjoyed it. I feel like there were a few too many storylines for them all to be explored at the depth I wanted. However, I liked how the FMC was the commitment-phobe and the MMC being fully invested. Made a nice change!

The Graham Effect by Elle Kennedy
5/5 ⭐
I needed a fun, light-hearted romance to break my reading slump, and this hit the spot. My favourite thing about Elle Kennedy is how she focuses on friendship dynamics as well as the love story, while also exploring darker topics. Great read!

Finished this cake for my best friend's engagement party in the early hours of this morning. I'm a very amateur baker and I've never tried to make a cake of this calibre before (carved the heart shape myself). Feeling extremely sleepy, but proud too 🙂‍↕️

August Wrap-up
Honestly a pathetic month for reading, but I did enjoy the 2 books I picked up! I did not account for how busy the start of this month would be, then a kid's movie put me in a slump for the rest of the month as I thought of nothing else 😅. Looking forward to this next month.

Watched K-Pop Demon Hunters tonight and I'm obsessed! I know next to nothing about K-pop, and thought this was epic. Sony Animations are really setting a new bar for creativity and fun with this and Spider-verse for me.
Now excuse me while I listen to the album on repeat for several days.

All That's Left In The World by Erik J. Brown
5/5⭐
I'll never understand when people say adults shouldn't read YA, as if YA isn't a great and varied genre with lots to offer and as much complexity as an adult novel! This book was so sweet, funny and sad. I love Jamie and Andrew.

ten men: a year of casual sex by Kitty Ruskin
4/5⭐
This one hurt to read, and I think it will stick with me for some time. However, it also feels so very vital that this book should exist. While covering dark topics, the author still wrote with much needed humour. Would recommend.

July reading wrap-up

This year so far has been great, and July was no different. Had a little slump in the middle, but that was cured with Swordheart ⚔️

Swordheart by T. Kingfisher
4/5 ⭐

This was a lot of fun!
I think in this world, I would be part of the Temple of the Rat. I enjoy their practical nature.
Also, never has an author made me more fearful of geography than this one... what a talent.
Read for adventure, and for laughs.

Finished my baby-blanket! Hope my sister likes it. #Quilting is so much fun! And I certainly learned a lot. I have Melanie Ham's videos to thank for teaching me. Thanks so much to her family for keeping them up on YouTube, I'm most grateful.

Watching the live-action HTTYD. It's nice... but I can't help but wish they hadn't repeated the first film frame for frame and maybe created an original story, maybe with Hiccup and Astrid's kids from the third film? That way I wouldn't compare it endlessly to the original animation I adore.

Saw #superman again last night, chasing the high I felt leaving the first viewing. I fear a new obsession has begun... I will certainly be getting the DVD to add to my collection 😁

Current #wip, making a baby blanket for my sister's baby-to-be. My first time quilting too but I'm trying my best!

I may not have picked up a new book or done any meaningful work at all this past week, but I have nobly watched the entirety of season three of Smallville. This I believe is a great accomplishment in its own right. #superman

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
2.5/5⭐

Honestly, this was pretty middle of the road for me. I liked the sun-soaked setting, and the banter was pretty on point for the main characters. However I didn't really feel the depth of their setbacks/insecurities. Ami's ending was fun!

This took me a minute to get into, but then I found myself finishing it at 2 in the morning... This book felt full of love to me, through family, friendships and of course romantic love. This is my first of this author, looking forward to more 😊

This year I started gardening in the back yard of my humble student flat. By venturing into the world of outdoor plants, DIY etc., I have come to the realization that house plant life is no longer enough for me, and I don't know how to feel about that... I have a lot going on already 😮‍💨

Not Another Love Song by Julie Soto
3.5/5⭐

I very much enjoyed how thirsty the MMC was around the FMC. That man looked at her like she was an oasis in the middle of the desert. I also enjoyed how inadequate this book made me feel musically 😂 3 or higher rating is good in my rubric FYI.
