Does the human cost on soldiers and civilians alike make any sense when infantry based warfare will likely never be as prevalent as decades past considering the affordability of drones?

Am I missing something?

I will end this by saying if this somehow comes across any military experts, I want to hear your thoughts. Is their any real utility to landmines in a world of advanced area control and denial methods?

Is this theatre for all the bloodthirsty hypernationalists and warmongers popping up all over Europe, those who dream of nothing but inflicting sadistic violence on anyone they deem opposed to their "noble" dreams?

I know instinctively that landmines are useless for modern warfare, and data appears to corroborate my uneducated instinct.

Yet, some states are tripping over themselves to return their use to normal warfare, threatening lives and environments for... sadism? Looking scary in front of opponents?

It didn't have to be that way, of course. The concepts of rights and civility are not "fake" just because the world order has abandoned them wholesale.

However, the bottom-line for most of states in the world is absolute self-interest. The politics we live today incentivise cynicism and hatred.

Israel, Russia, China, Iran, the US, NATO.

All of them are complicit in the death of civil norms and the deterioration of basic leadership.

It's a race to the bottom, leadership only in devolution and regression.

It shows that none of the supposed triumphs of post-WWII were sustainable.

Absolutely embarrassing how NATO and the pillars of the global community put the blame on Russia or China for threatening the post-WWII order - all while going out of their way to destroy the bases (on paper) of how we conduct warfare since that massive crime that was the Second World War.

LOL doing propaganda for autocratic states. This is one of the most mindless posts I've read in a while

Reading this has me tearing up. I don't celebrate Christmas, but I live every day in places that do not know me when I know them so well. I live with people that do not know me when I know them so well. It's bloody hard. It's hard, ya Allah, it's hard

Palestinians have been exceptions to the "liberal world order" since its inception. In terms of systems, there is nowhere safe.

Which is why it matters so much to have safe, warm community spaces and family spaces. Which is why states will continue to intrude in those and decimate them.

God help them and us. The fight never stops.

The sheer intellectual malice in pretending Palestinians are monolithic (in whatever way fits the agenda of the speaker) is infuriating, indeed.

There is huge diversity in Palestinian thought and politics that "supporters" love to bulldoze so they can flatten us into caricatures.
