I hope you find some good things in your day. I’m sure you will. Here’s a picture of a great book. Wonderful read. It’s a book by Drew Hayes called NPCs. The background characters have a story of their own. Why do the ‘main’ characters always cause such chaos? The NPCs have their own voice.

This can be read as a stand-alone book, as well as another easy read he wrote although a hit thicker: Forging Hephaestus about a young woman who’s whole world was taken from her when her parents died in a freak lab accident. Was the league of the world’s superhero’s responsible? Did I put too many apostrophes in the last sentence? I don’t know and that’s the beauty of life. No one has all the answers but there are good books out there.

Some more serious reading although very engaging: Once They Moved Like the Wind. Amazing story of the people. Most likely outdated, it was written in the 1990s but as an 11 year old, totally captivating. I learned about people who shaped this country, I knew the name Geronimo but found Cochise, the leader who came before him. I have older parents and watched all the old western shows. To see the world from a new point of view was beautiful and helped change how I saw things.

If you’re still reading this another great book I read in middle school: Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman. Another story of people who were subjugated although not decimated as others were. A fiction book with real people. Sparked my interstate in King John, who I only knew as the king in England who signed the Magna Carta, because our own Declaration of Independence was based in part on its thoughts. Not much about King John’s life beyond the Robin Hood mythology I could find as a child without the internet in the early 1990s. This is the imagining of one of his bastard daughters who marries a welsh prince who then goes on the unite Wales, briefly against England, securing for his adult lifetime a semblance of peace. Wonderful story. Still holds up today. She wrote a whole series on the Plantagenets starting with ‘When Christ and His Saints Slept’ amazing story of the

Tweet from this guy. What about people who are born deaf? No one asked to be born and no one asked to be born disabled. No disabled child can get life insurance. No disabled person can get life insurance unless they had it before, especially for things like heart conditions or other chronic disabling conditions. My son is 6 and will always be mentally disabled. He wouldn’t have chosen this if he could have made a choice.

In St Louis, shortly after we lived here, a nonverbal autistic boy was beaten by police near Florissant because he looked like a grown man and the cops beat first ask later. What if that poor boy had a lifetime cap on his Missouri Medicaid? It’s not his fault he was born nonverbal and profoundly autistic. He didn’t ask for that. He was a teenager but his mom said he was profoundly autistic and no older than 3 or 4 mentally. I will never forget how there was no follow up. He already had medications issues and then after that incident he was taken to the emergency room. Follow up care for a behavioral therapist would be considered general care and not covered under a lifetime cap. Behavioral therapy would be needed because when someone is nonverbal with low to no communication, they react in fear and other basic emotions because they don’t understand their world. You are uncaring. I am grateful. All the kids who are born disabled, without the ACA, would lead poorer lives. Your lived experience isn’t the only one that matters.

We made a turkey garland. There are spider man turkeys and Bob’s Burger turkeys. Regular turkeys and many many turkeys colored by our 5 year old that resemble nothing besides the pride I feel everytime she picks up a marker. This is worth fighting for, these people are worth fighting for

Pictire of our dinner table where we spend most of our time. Pale blue walls with white trim around windows looking out to the backyard. There is a cabinet in the corner which is white and has places for figurines and Knick knacks. My husband did a gnome diorama with mushrooms, a wishing fountain, and flowers and poses them occasionally depending on his mood. Once the head gnome (me) was reading a book while everyone else was outside. I bought fall crafts from the store and we colored in turkeys which are hanging on a garland from the ceiling. Two dogs sit below the table. One looks like a dirty tan mop and the other is a Tri colored corgi, brown/white/black, who is a follower and does not think for himself. He often looks on helplessly as the chihuahua/border collie mix out of view steals his food. What a pushover. Three humans are still around a table we use for eating/drawing/homework/board games. They’re all looking at their phones because sometimes I need a break and I’m lazy and that’s okay.

Truly amazing. Fairly sure many of them did not read the rules before they joined.

This is your reminder to read contracts before you agree to them. Yes, even the Apple contracts. I worked for a cruise line and there’s a vacation contract before you get on the ship. You should read it once. Yes it’s boring, no one really reads it and companies depend on you not reading their agreements. I worked the complaint line for after cruising. You guys should really read your contracts. Also get a travel agent. No, you’re not paying more. The commission for travel agents is worked into the price so it doesn’t take more from the consumer. When you book directly you’re just giving the company you booked with more money. Find a good travel agent, not an unknown person. Find someone and build a relationship. That way when you got drunk and kissed the shop, happened a lot, someone in the states will help you get home. Or when your flight is cancelled because of a federal shutdown, someone will call around and book you a hotel room and find you a rental car. Otherwise you’re at the airport yourself trying to use the same Wi-Fi everyone else is to get out of the airport.

Kids like my son, who doesn’t talk and still has low/no communication at 6 years old. My daughter who needs occupational therapy in her general Ed school. Kids in wheelchairs, kids with cancer, kids with MS. Kids who didn’t ask to be born.

Boy running up fake grass to slide down a roller slide. The sun is shining and he has long green pants and a gray shirt with Marvel characters. He’s facing away from the camera. He is smiling big, anticipating running up the short hill to slide down the metal roller slide. He will do that more than 20 times in the next half an hour. Boundless energy and never loses his smile. We are at his therapy hospital, waiting for his appointment to start.

Surprise fountain by the bakery. Joy in an unexpected place.

Fountain in St Louis by the bakery ‘Vitale’s Bakery’. We drove there to pick up some meatballs and bread and found the fountain across the street. She convinced me to buy some cookies and we sat and enjoyed the fountain. She enjoyed the fountain, I enjoyed her enjoyment.

White marble fountain with fish and horse statues raining water in a cobblestone plaza that is no more than 10,000 sq ft. Benches and pots of flowers surround the fountain which is more than 10 ft across.

Across the street two basset hounds lounged outside and lumbered over for a sniff and a wag and down the street where we parked our car is a memorial tree that stated it was for Luka, a good dog. An unexpected respite from the heat. It was weeks ago and already 84 degrees at 8 am. A very nice day.

Porthos the first of his name, as far as he knows. Ladies man (sort of man), enjoyer of feasts, and athlete. I’m his heyday he ran 3 miles every morning and stole bread from the counter (low hanging). Also known as Puddin’ , Mr. P, Lumpy Space Princess (he’s a princess) and Fat Potato. He is at first glance a long haired dachshund, cream in color. Standing at a mere 7 inches tall, with head and 12 inches long, sans tail. At his fighting fit he was 15 lbs, now a respectable 25 lbs. Some say he should diet, he says ‘No’. He judges all who are before him, and finds most worthy of the honor of pets. You need not call him. Just say ‘ham’ and he will arise and head your words.

Two weirdos

On left, corgi = Momo. A Tri colored corgi with a black back, white face and paws and tans ears, hindquarters, ruff. On right = Lulu a border collie chihuahua mix. Yes she is, I knew her parents, they had me over for dinner one time. They are both lying, ears us on their bellies on the grass alert and oriented to what, I know not. They are often fascinated with something out of my sight. A turtle, one of the foxes or maybe a ghost. No one knows. We all shelter beneath a large leafy tree in the front yard where out of view my children are laying down in their swing and looking at, whatever the dogs are looking at. No one will tell me what it is. It is sunny out and around 95 f. It is humid with one small lake across the agree and one small lake behind the house and several more down the way. In this moment we are all alive, not sick, have a home and enough. For today we are okay. Days have been in the past not as good. Sometimes with no home or food. Sometimes sick or alone. Today is a day that is good. Tomorrow may be different. For today we are together. I haven’t always been so lucky. It is an accident of life that gave me this life. I am still lucky to be born here, lucky to be a woman in this time. A chance I would still not give up despite what everyone can see coming. I will think of this life when it is not so good again. That I knew life was good when it happened because life has been bad before. Because sometimes giving it your best isn’t good enough. It is good enough today.

My 6 year old son, who doesn’t speak, who they tell me is mentally between 18 months and two years. I believe he knows more than he is able to show. He’s walking down below the deck, where we planted Hostas the first year we lived here, back behind the roses that bloom near the stone path we laid out in the shadow of the house down below. He’s carrying a stuffed sloth I found earlier that day when I went to clean out the wall out, one box at a time. Our young corgi, MoMo or Momert for short, is lazily sniffing the grass near the moss we haven’t cleared out yet at the bottom of the garden bed where water pools after a storm. There are frogs and lizards living in the ivy near where I am standing but they eat the centipedes so we let them wander without pesticides. It is bright and green, humid and slow. My son is happy, we are outside, where he believes we are always meant to be. My daughter is behind me on the disc swing I bought at Aldi a few weeks ago, enjoying herself before she smashes into the tree in a few minutes. It is hot but the kids want to be outside. They don’t ask for much at stores and we usually eat at home. Being outside is a reward to them. A chance to be around flowers or splash as much as they want in the splash pad I bought and hook up almost every morning this summer. What will become of them. I don’t know. I thought my son would eventually go to a group home and maybe my daughter would visit him sometimes. I don’t know anymore what will happen to them when I’m gone. I’m not young, and they are. Just sad today. Not quite hopeless, just very sad. What will happen to them when I’m gone. Will they come for my son in the next few years? I don’t know. If they come for him, will they let me go with him? I couldn’t bear it if they took him without me. What will happen to my daughter if they take my son and I go with them? I don’t know. Will I have to make that choice? I don’t know.

I’ve never received an email from Mike Bost’s office. I’ve been signed up for emails for years. This was sent at the end of June. Why, out of the blue, is his office sending this?

Email to me, from Ckngressman Mike Bost’s office, telling me now is a perfect time to renew my passport. Dated June 22, 2025.

Unclear why I received this. At his last online town hall hundreds (according to a later FB post complaining about his town hall) of people who signed up where not added, due to ‘technical difficulties’.

He rarely shows up in his district and when he does he goes to the poorest towns where the population is so red they have sunburns. He showed up at a New Athens boat shop to answer questions about solar energy, with very little publicity, I only knew because I buy sourdough from someone in town. Just so mad at him today. I’ve received three different canned responses from his office and I’m fairly certain the kid in the Mascoutah office has a poop eating grin on his face when he talks to people like me. Just so mad, but it doesn’t matter because no one around here cares. It’s so far removed from ‘real life’ for them.

My town opened up yet another bar three months ago, bringing the grand total to 8 and two liquor stores, not including the Casey’s. This place has a population of 1,500, spread out fairly far as well. I just hate it here so much. Not from here, got stuck during the pandemic, typical story. It could be worse, I tell myself daily. It could be better though. It could be a lot better. Rant over.

Posted in response to wacky pictire of Mary Miller posing a la Marjorie Taylor Greene without the butch arms, which if we’re being honest, Mary Miller needs to do some lifting. As we get older it’s important for our core and our memory to do less cardio and more core/weight lifting. Cardio is for people who still have use of their whole knee and leg, the young. Core workout, especially for women help prevent injuries especially as our bone density subsides. Even doing just 10 squats a day can help prevent falls. Take care of yourself, because Mary Miller thinks we need more CO2, and that can’t be right.

Also, if he took enough time to look at the proposal, he'd know that the plan is to pilot stores in underprivileged areas that are currently food deserts. Not anywhere he'd need to worry about visiting!

This picture of postings is in reference to Thomas Chatterton Williams (who I will refer to as ‘Willie’ for short) stating he would never shop in a government run store. Many people on this thread pointed out the NEX/Exchange/Commissaries are government run stores and grocery store (commissaries are awesome by the way, best ethnic grocery store for miles sometimes).

Many pointed out this man lives more than half time in France and suggested he only visits New York a few weeks or One week per year. People in this thread, which is very long, have also suggested he is foofy, possibly pretentious and would not be going where these stores are anyway. Allegedly trying to malign the newly elected democrat primary winner for New York City.

All these are online, mostly likely from people who do not know ‘Willie’. He sounds like a lively person even if he posted a picture on his timeline showing Zoltan Mamdani as a Disney villain type using very clever cropping and lighting effects. I’m sure that’s not what he was going for.

Any typos are due to my daughter pooping during this description. I did have to wipe her butt and that takes prescience over bluesky

Ash Tree and Duo

Green-ish grass, lots of ragweed and crabgrass expanded to show a mature ash tree with a black disc webbed swing (3 ft diameter)made from plastic rope and pipping hanging from a branch on slightly center right side of tree, behind is a small blue disc swing (1 ft diameter) that photographer is extremely proud she bought for $2.50. On property line riding leisurely out to a small lake, almost a pond is best friend #1 with mutual small child with profound goofy smile. Small child is holding steering wheel of small John Deere tractor with enlarged ear protection that covers half of his head due to small size of head. Small child is most likely grinning wildly while best friend is keeping him steady. Best friend has serious look on his face because he is relaxed and takes himself too seriously but is in fact a big goober. Duo next to property line that we had surveyed for $850 just so we could passive aggressively fight with neighbors as they were mowing 6-12 feet into our newly bought property and photographer planted deceptive grass duo just drive by after rage buying them at Lowes the same year due to aforementioned neighbors. Money well spent, apparently. Photographer waits until duo is closer to lane before picking g a small hill of weeds which she throws into yard waste cans as therapy only works from within, not from someone charging $180 an hour to tell you journaling is the answer- no it’s not.

Spending time outside.

Small gentleman in pajamas running in the rain when it’s 80 degrees outside.
He is running and flapping his hands on a black, slick, driveway made up of mostly cracks and weeds his mother endlessly picks out instead of going to therapy because talking about your problems just isn’t working anymore. Spiraea bushes are close to the photographer, then a layer of lava rock the photographers husband got for free but had to dig out of someone else’s garden. The photographer is waiting to tell said husband the rock is killing the spiraea’s offshoots and needs to be moved until she’s made him his favorite cake and will possibly mention it about 10 minutes before bedtime. The grass after the lava rock is green, for now, as the photographer is expecting it to be brown and crunchy as it was last July very soon. The trees in the front area past the happy flapping man shade the many weeds the photographer will pick like Sisyphus rolls his rock. It’s actually quite soothing and feels productive in the same way unlocking achievements used to feel when the photographer had to time play Halo or Call of Duty. Later that day the happy flappy little man rocked on the porch in his photographer’s lap and said one word, ‘Raspberry’ over and over, giggling like a mad man as she did give him raspberries and made fart noises. It was the only thing he said out loud all day. It was a good day

ICE? in Belleville, Illinois. Near EStL and Scott AFB, this afternoon. Belleville is one of those Southern Midwestern towns decaying, with no real outside industry bringing in money into the town.
