The Mexican embassies had panels of the AIDS quilt for World Pride, and there was a thick sadness and gravitas in the room. A generation of dreams unfulfilled, and for some these were the only memorials thanks to families that wanted nothing to do with them. #WorldAIDSDay

World Pride was here this year and one of the embassies had a few bits of it on display. There's the image of the quilt spread out, the SF(?) choir's lost members, but what stuck with me were the number of men who were taken so young and one child's quilt with TMNT who would have been my age.

If teenage me was out with the discman, Discovery, Battle of Los Angeles, White Pony, The Emancipation of Mimi, Mer de Noms, and Stillmatic were all likely to be in there...but the way this album got me listening to college/independent radio and opened doors to other genres? Easy.
