Cruised the Santa Monica Mountains, biked the coast, hiked the Los Padres, fenced at Letterman, served in Tikrit, mapped six states, fathered two cool children, produced some great shows and helped open KZYX. Hello neighbor! Fight the power!
Our Black History Month Observance in 2019 - readings from 'Voices of Freedom: an Oral History of the Civil Rights Movement.' Soldiers from our unit read passages about MLKs home being firebombed and other attempts to crush the civil rights movement. Too scary?

Just went to an Air Force Chaplain's event honoring the Four Chaplains - fourchaplains.org - speaker talked about "Unity, not uniformity." He seemed to be talking around the anti-DEI policy without saying so. This event highlights the ecumenical nature of the Chaplain Corps - every faith welcome.

I WAS SCAMMED - DO NOT BUY FROM MOKALOHA

I was duped, I usually am very careful online shopping. I missed on this one. the website is nice and sounds legit, but you would have to mail a return BACK TO CHINA, or they offer you 20% refund. Yep, fell for that scam. Avoid Mokaloha! Be advised.

Today I've had two literary journeys that really moved me; first I finished "Variable Star," the Spider Robinson novel based on Robert Heinlein's draft - really good.

Then I read this short story: strangehorizons.com/fiction/exit...
Exit Interview
Across the train tracks from BWI station, a portal shimmered in the shade of a patch of tall trees. From her seat on a northbound train taking on passengers, Dottie watched a woman slip a note out …

Did you ever do this with your kids? Take a laundry basket, lay in a blanket, and tell your kids you made them a nest? My girls absolutely loved this.

So, over the last few years I've discovered that I have become very close to the surface emotionally. Current blessings, memories. I can't recite the St. Crispin's day speech without losing it. The theme from "Masters of the air" wipes me out. Remembering my wife on the beach in the rain. You?

Here's a tough one: back when I was a DJ, I had a cut labeled "Brooklyn Queens / Beasties." It's not the Third Base cut, it had a trance kind of sound, not hip hop/punk at all. Any clue?

No time like the present to re-organize. I set a new schedule of two-week sprints, laying out five sprints and setting tasks from the backlog of things; this week fixing the climate control and replacing brake rotors. And, sneaking up on adding a long-delayed writing project. Sprints work!

You probably know 'It can't happen here' by Lewis. There is also one I read when I was about 12, Heinlein's 'Revolt in 2100' which includes 'If this goes on' which deals with an America circa 2100 in which the original American republic has been overthrown and a religious dictatorship.
