Just read Barren Grounds with my boys (9&11) and we loved the characters, the feel of whimsy, the animal people, and the transformation from self doubt to finding identity. Recommended preteen read aloud.

Read this great book with the boys. Whimsical and honest story of self-doubt and self-discovery. We will definitely be reading the next one too. Francis loved connections with Narnia, Henry loved a squirrel as an important character. I loved the indigenous connection. Check it out :)

Feeling nostalgic today. I took a walk at Waldie Island trail and remembered taking the same walk when I started dating Tyrel, when I was carrying Francis, when Henry learned to walk. Life is a flux, it comes around again; each time familiar, each time new.

The word of the day is humility. I remember that I'm allowed to not have all the answers. I have flaws, but it's alright because I am still growing. One minute you can feel like you're on top of the world and the next minute your toilet seal is leaking... But it's ok. We're not in it alone. <3
