Agreed, there’s on ongoing literacy & math crisis in education, exacerbated by the pandemic.

Another issue around this is how many adults do you see reading books or texts on a regular basis or make positive statements about math?

It’s become normalized to not read and acceptable to hate math

While image driven could be apart of it, it also depends on the person.

When engaging in a conversation here that’s only written, it can more difficult to gauge tone/mood, but on TT you can see non-verbal language and hear/see tone during engagement.

Most US adults only read ~6th grade level

TikTok is supposedly back online but I’m not sure it’ll be the same going forward should it continue to stay.

Agreed if it comes back owned as meta I don’t think I’ll go back as it won’t be the same.

Think about it from TikTok’s perspective, if the leaving president says they aren’t going to enforce the fines ($5k per user per day) but the next incoming president hasn’t said anything and nothing is guaranteed - I wouldn’t want to risk a 2.5 B fine. (Please correct me if I’m misinformed)

I agree that if it is “saved” it’s a PR move on his behalf because he is the one who started talking about a TT ban first.
