Many moons ago, I used to paint stones. I’d sketch out an idea and then slowly transfer it onto a selected pebble. Here’s an example of one of my concept sketches and the finished stone.

Here’s a pen and pencil drawing of a woodcock (one of my favourite birds) flying out to forage as the full moon rises behind a distant hill.

Tonight’s offering is this coloured pencil drawing of a kestrel I drew for my mum.

Here are some Christmas cards I made for my friends and family a few years ago to celebrate winter. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite season, but up in the northern hemisphere it’s a brilliant time to gaze at the stars. ✨

I’m sad this is nearly over - it’s been great to see so much art on Bluesky.
My offering this evening is a pastel painting from earlier this year, inspired by returning Nightjars in the spring.
(Only 158 days until they’re back again. 😉)

I watched the sun disappear behind these trees this afternoon. This charcoal drawing was created a few years ago, but the trees look just the same today. The same proud Oaks, silhouetted against the darkening sky. 🌙

This is a miniature clay sculpture of a Black Throated Diver (also known as an Arctic Loon) which would easily sit in the palm of your hand.

This is a soft pastel and acrylic painting I made a few years ago. I thought it was finished, but I think I might add a small flock of Jackdaws to that open patch of sky…

This pastel painting is called ‘Starlit Path’. It’s only small, but it features something big; Orion, my favourite winter constellation. ✨

This painted stone was inspired by ‘revontulet’, the Finnish word for the aurora borealis. It means ‘fox fires’ and comes from the old belief that the northern lights were created by a magical fox which swept glistening snow into the night sky with its tail. ✨ 🦊
