There’s an excellent (!) martirio di S Cecilia by quirino Colombani ca 1707, cellist composer who wrote great cello obligato solos and also in orchestral pieces- seems to me Scarlatti was able to edge him out from his Rome position

I listened and enjoyed last night - esp as we performed the Missa Di S Cecilia in Dunedin ca 1970 in our professor John Steele’s edition - and these joyful tunes are still the same. Happy A major! And a wonderful (rare) alto solo

I had the chance to visit his grave on the 300th anniversary. Montesanto a simpler church than many in Naples, very moving

Yes, newly edited by my friend Luca Della Libera. We performed it in the University of Otago music dept, ed by John Steele prob 1970- an early Scarlatti revival. Lovely piece, lots of A major if I remember right

I was at the Alessandro Scarlatti conference in Naples - held on the 300th anniversary of his death. Then friend visit to Palermo. Amazing I got to all my travel bookings after getting all the dates wrong to start with. Great trip!

Which all roads lead. Was not allowed on this wondrous church, S Maria Maggiore, by 8 Roman police telling me my suitcase was not allowed in. Understandable not I couldn’t find the left luggage at Rome airport. There must be one..
