I’m really surprised by how much I’m enjoying the theme of the Fellowship of the Ring Trick Taking game. No LoTR board game has made me want to engage with the source material more. No small feat for a trick taker.

I finally beat the first scenario of Resist! I love this game but it’s super hard. Down to my last three Maquis and Consuelo came up clutch.

I played Inis for the first time last night, and now my head is swimming in the best kind of way. Loved the chaos energy, loved the vibe. Need to play more.

I also sold a couple of preloved games, so I treated myself to these beauts.

I’ve been enjoying the Mass Effect board game designed by @ithayla.bsky.social and @ericlang.bsky.social. Nice to play a campaign game that doesn’t take 20 sessions to complete. Also, you get to throw literal fistfuls of dice.

I finally cracked 60 in Zebra by @robcramer.bsky.social. It’s a great polyomino flip and write that you can play pretty much anywhere (it’s one of a few games I can comfortably play at my desk). Next up, try and crack 61 and get into that top solo scoring bracket.

Hey #portfolioday

I’m a graphic designer who makes analog games. Here are some fun illustrations I made for our chill diving game Aquamarine.

My partner is pasting me in our Battle of Hoth campaign. We’ve played six scenarios and I’ve won just one.

I thought I’d got victory in the last game, and even uttered the words ‘you’re still winning the campaign though’. That was the curse that felled my poor plastic troops.

Still a great game.

Eight years ago I was spending far too much time branding a fake NBA team in 2K17

Still noodling away at this 18 card space combat game. It’s a slow side project that I tinker with every now and then but I’m kind of ok with that.

I’ve been struggling to get into something new since finishing Mafia Old Country, so tonight I fired up the explore mode, set the car controls to manual and just drove about. Turns out games don’t need endless collectibles when the vibes are that strong.

Wraith & The Giants is a neat solo game that I haven’t heard many folks talking about. Very much in the vain of Shadow of the Colossus but I appreciate the narrative construct of generations of one family fighting rampaging giants.

Lovely day in Galway, including a nice stop off at Dungeons & Donuts for a couple of games of the new Star Wars hotness (Battle of Hoth)

A little bit of Adventurous this morning.

Luke Jerram’s Helios exhibition is a mesmerising scale model of the Earth and sun. It’s currently touring the UK, and is definitely worth seeing if you can.

A nice bit of board game UX design in the Khôra: Rise of an Empire rules booklet. This contextual key is printed on every page of the rules manual, and has reminders for what each icon mentioned on that page means.

Socketing wooden shapes into cardboard holes is never not satisfying

Dinosaur Island Rawr N Write still hasn’t been dethroned as my favourite roll and write. I love the variability that comes with the different specialist and building cards.
