in fact he's not the only character that has my voice, some characters share the same voice, but Captain Khan is one of the earliest characters in the game to use my voice.

just based on what I'd seen, a good portion of this character's dialogue is there to guide newer players, ie. reminding them to use the map, or to check for secrets etc.

So I can charitably assume that this is only for a short portion of the game.

I don't particularly fancy the more apocalyptic takes on this, and I stand by my initial thought that he's there as a tutorial guide and will take a backseat soon after, which is ultimately harmless to the overall experience.

But it does make for a somewhat grating first impression...

He's at worst a narrative and design choice that rubs me the wrong way but is otherwise totally harmless.
