Hunting season is upon us! Adjacent lands often have hunting, so consider a fashionable orange cap!

Our neighbors would appreciate it if you visit one of the other wonderful local parks during shotgun seasons

(Shotgun season is Nov 21, 22, 23, and Dec 4, 5, 6, 7)

This is a cool write up about the community science enabled by iNat

Depending on when they looked at raccoon pictures, our raccoons might have been looked at and measured!

You can check out what we've been seeing, or add what you see when you visit, to our iNat project

Happy #InsectThursday! The hot weather hasn't been good for our human volunteers, but the butterflies are loving it!

Here we've got a Eastern Giant Swallowtail and a Silver-Spotted Skipper sharing a Joe Pye Weed flower

We're looking at different places in the cemetery to see what animals use different parts of it. This raccoon was as interested in the camera as we are in them!

Look who we saw on the #TrailCam! This almost invisible friend is an American Woodcock, famous for saying "peent" and having even sillier nicknames! I'm torn between liking "timberdoodle" or "bogsucker" best #birds

Coyotes are seen regularly in Root Cemetery. They're usually moving a little fast for the camera, but we're always excited to see them!

Last October we had a good view of this Coopers Hawk! These birds eat mostly other birds, so when they're hanging out the songbirds go really quiet 🤐

Did you see the smoke? We had a prescribed burn today, to reduce the brush and restore the savanna habitat.
