She was all in and brought her own twist to the concept — recreating a family photo from 100 years ago. With these two concepts combined, this wild and amazing photo was born! A little bit witchy, a lot a bit wild and totally offbeat, I LOVE how unique this portrait is!

Per her request, she wanted photos that weren’t just folks “in a line” smiling at the camera, which is pretty typical for family portraiture at weddings. After I saw a post from a videographer who styled a family photo in an “old school style”, I asked Allie if she wanted to do something similar.

Allie (the bride) is a Watauga local and her family goes back for generations here in the High Country. As an already offbeat bride and a fellow hyper-creative, I had the idea to try something new for her family photos.

Last year, I had the ultimate pleasure of photographing a backyard wedding celebration that was steeped in NC High Country culture, vibes and history. The sheer number of cultural connections and social overlaps with this crew blew my mind!
