I think the myth of his plays being inaccessible really comes through being forced in school to read the plays like books when they are meant to be performed. Really steals a lot of the magic from them

It is so frustrating too because a good critic with clear and well explained preferences is so much more useful for knowing if you would like a piece of art.

It is the trap of stigmatized knowledge. First learn about something that was obfuscated from you about how the world works or the history of something and you get interested in finding what else is like that, which is good. But that openness can be exploited to fall for more conspiratorial thinking

Ace all the characters! I love me my unintentional ace characters but more intentional ones need to exist

It is a result of alienation leading to consumer culture as identity. With no greater community the media you like can become who you are at your core so criticism feels like an attack on your being and your people. They, mostly subconsciously, feel that this is their religion and its holy texts.

The pure hate on display hurts my heart and makes some days feel immpossible

Any art or cultural criticism movement that has challenged the status quo has always been a favorite target of fascists. Look into what the Nazi's considered "Degenerate" art and the anti intellectualism of Nazism like, for example, against something like the Frankfurt School

I always felt similar and also remember having some critiques of certain examples she used as being rhetorically weak and muddying her points. But as soon as I became aware of the gamergate crowd and their bullshit I basically let it all drop, cause damn the hate she still gets is so wild.

Chris Smither is so good, I remember my mom playing his album "Don't It Drag On" in the car as a kid and being completely enraptured. Despite being a quintessential Dead song I always gravitated toward his version of "Friend of the Devil"

This the way! The structure of a society leads to groups becoming adversaries to the players. What is more interesting, killing every gnoll you see OR wandering into a gnoll nation with a corrupt leader and several factions both for and against the power structure that the players need to navigate

Well they certainly can't show the world how to win an election

I did a good job not looking to not get in doom mode and then I got curious about my states ballot questions and Google just had to show me an election map

One of the biggest mistakes the Democrats make around Trump is the things they expect to make him repulsive to people are exactly what his supporters like

I love FF XIV but pvp will forever be a mystery in which I just attempt to not be the worst

Misogyny definitely played a part but I think a smaller one then some want to admit. Don't forget that she also ran an awful campaign that ignored key swing states and the biggest pitch for why she should be president was basically "cause it's my turn"

Google is an evil corporation for sure but in this case I think it might be because the news tab has never really worked well, often giving irrelevant or outdated articles as the first result of a search

Yeah we are in bad shape when the Mr Beast video almost seems like the smallest offender out of them all

For a piece of media that is so simple to see the point it was trying to make Squid Game might already be the most misused and misunderstood show of all time despite how new it is

Medford native and Arlington has always had that vibe but it is amazing how they have stayed ahead of the curve even as the surrounding cities all got a healthy dose of gentrification
