Seychelles' new government lists several firsts for youth and gender. Half the Cabinet and 57% of the ministers are women, one of whom is the youngest minister at 33. We also have the youngest Vice President at 47, and first woman, and youngest, Speaker of parliament at 41 years.

Seychelles has designated Curieuse, the fifth largest of its granitic and inner islands, home to a marine national park since 1979, as a terrestrial national park. This marks another step towards protecting 50% of its total land area, which comprises 115 islands.

One way islands can address the inter-related climate and biodiversity crises is to restore their biodiversity. Terrestrial restoration can result in healthier corals and other coastal ecosystems, increasing their resilience to climate change and their value as carbon sinks.
