You cannot be perfect with the pastels.
Unlike pencils they don't allow precise lines. Unlike paints there is a limit on amount of colours that you can buy or mix.
And this intrinsic imperfection helps to reject the rules and silence the inner critic. And just have fun :)

It was the beginning of winter in the Gulf of Riga. After weeks of gray, boring, depressing weather we finally got sunny and cold weekend.

Old kerosene lantern.

I attended drawing classes in the basement of an art shop :)
The teacher is a young student from the Art Academy. We are the first people that he had ever taught, but he does it so well!
I've already learned a lot about shadows and lines!

This one is very old.
Maybe autumn of 2017th.
I used to live in St Petersburg then. And I found a small studio on Vasilievsky island providing art lessons.
Unfortunately the original didn't survive during my emigration. But I'm still very proud with this work :)
